Boca Bagel Bar raises the bar when it comes to delectable creations. Superlative bagels are freshly baked every morning and are a joy whether you prefer them with one of the dozen tempting schmears or as the foundation for a fabulous breakfast or lunch sandwich. This newly opened Boca deli is the brainchild of proprietor Jimmy Macagna who devoted forty years operating upscale restaurants in New Jersey. The refinement of his inventive cuisine is truly awesome.
In the long, cheerful dining room, neatly arranged rows of contemporary chairs and tables create a distinctively modern feel. The rear of the space is dominated by a beautifully orchestrated self serve coffee bar. A cluster of gleaming urns is flanked by a huge grinder packed with whole beans freshly ground to create ambrosial coffees costing a mere $1.65 for a 12 ounce cup that includes free refills.
Expect prompt and friendly service provided by Antoinette and her two accomplished waitresses. Large menus behind the display counter describe a range of signature offerings for breakfast and lunch. Be sure to ask about the list of specialty fish.
What better way to begin than with superbly crafted homemade chicken noodle soup. The fragrant, delicate broth almost devoid of salt was a refreshing alternative to the sodium laden commercial soups dominating the marketplace. Overflowing with tender cuts of chicken filet, fresh veggies and al dente pasta, our generous serving proved irresistible down to the last drop.
Wherever there is soup, salad is sure to follow and the signature salads are as scrumptious as they are refreshing. Although Greek salads have become almost as popular as Key Lime pie, few restaurants realize that the key to the salad’s appeal is the quality of the feta cheese. To our delight, the salad arrived with a glistening white canopy of aromatic feta amazingly creamy and vibrant.. The platter glowed with the freshness of the cheese, veggies, kalamata olives and was energized by a in-house crafted dressing...
There are so many sandwich options to choose from, but let me focus on one that we found simply superb, namely the Sliced Nova featuring hand cut smoked salmon partnered with a toasted garlic bagel, fresh tomato, onion and capers. The combination worked so sublimely because the zest of the bagel and quality of each of the toppings enhanced the satiny richness of the smoked salmon, indubitably the finest in Boca. Of course, we did leave a bit of room for the house’s heavenly Chocolate .Chip muffin.
