Santo´s Beautiful, Exciting and Delicious

Modern American Buffet and Sushi

By Arnold Leir

Situated on the Boca Raton site previously occupied by Gary Woo, this jewel of a restaurant transforms the entire parcel with its modernistic, dynamic architecture.

The exterior is sleek and airy with floor to ceiling windows that sparkle in the sunlight. The high ceiling interior space is energized by cluster of gleaming black tables and white high back upholstered chairs.

A glistening stainless steel buffet bar runs along almost the entire length of the restaurant. The mantra “Food is a universal language:” appears on the gowns of the three beauties portrayed on the striking full length mural overlooking the serving stations. Put on your glasses and you will see faintly written on one of the maidens collars “All sorrows are less with food.” Remarkable food for thought.

This stunning ambiance is the setting for a regal Brunch Buffet ($16.95) available every Saturday and Sunday. Service, under the watchful eye of Manager Miranda , is exceptional Courses are so appealingly presented that enthusiastic customers couldn’t resist taking photos.

Where to begin with the abundance (breakfast favorites, sushi, mains, sides and desserts) may present an epicurean challenge. Since we were at brunch, I suggested starting at the breakfast bar manned by Chef Natasha. All egg entrees are made to your specs using organic eggs. Crepes, pancakes and French toast are prepared on the spot.

For an additional $7, you can enjoy endless Mimosas. The Sake Bar offers a selection of top Sake labels and a special Sake flight (three for $6). Domestic and imported wines are available by the bottle or the glass, Premium beers are also served plus the bar dispenses a $2 draft.

We made our way down the buffet bar trying almost all of the thirty two varieties of scrumptious sushi. The copious salad section caught out attention with tantalizing seaweed salad, mango shrimp cerviche, chick pea and caprese salads.

Countless hot dishes include soups (the signature Lobster Bisque is a must) and our favorites: fried rice, lo mien, baked red snapper, pork tenderloin with ponzu glaze, herbed chicken Parmesan and sautéed calamari, just to mention a few. The nearby Carving Station served among other delicacies grilled rib eye and cuts of Picanha.

From the dessert display we shared the sinfully rich crème brulee, coconut panna cotta, chocolate mousse, green tea parfait, lemon meringue and a fabulous Thai donut. All the delectable ice cream flavors are created exclusively for San To’s Open every day except July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, San To;s Modern American Buffet and Sushi serves a special menu on select holidays.
