Now open in the Deerfield Square Shopping Center is Les Amies, a new French Restaurant filled with old world charm, “Where everyone is treated like a friend”. Marie Tarese and Diane, formerly of Le Val de Loire, have shared their French culinary talents for over 25 years and now have opened this delightful Restaurant. Les Amies offers a large variety of French Cuisine a la carte, meal complete, and even a Special Sunset Dinner from 4:00 to 5:30 pm for only $18.95 per person.
For appetizers you must try the Scallops and Shrimp Coquille ($9.95); a large scallop shell filled with pieces of tender large scallops and shrimp cooked in a delicious Mornaise sauce and surrounded by fluffy mashed au gratin potatoes. This looks beautiful and tastes even better. Some other appetizers include Escargots de Bourgogne, Crab Cakes, Pate Maison and a variety of homemade French soups.
For salads you’ll be impressed with the Artichoke and Hearts of Palm Salad ($7.95); a large bed of Romaine and mixed field greens, topped and surrounded with tasty slices of artichokes, hearts of palm, roasted red peppers, and carrots. It is covered in a light French vinaigrette dressing making this dish fantastic. Other salads that will entice you include Endives, Goat Cheese, Caesar and Salade Maison.
Picking the right entrée may be difficult because of the exciting selection of French Dishes of Chicken, Beef, Duck, Fish, Mussels and Crepes, so you must visit often to try everything that you’ve been longing for. Try the Rack of Lamb Provençale ($24.95); a rack of tender baby lamb chops that have been oven roasted to perfection in a French herb sauce, topped with rosemary, and accompanied by wild rice, mixed vegetables and mashed sweet potatoes. This is truly a visionary and culinary delight that you’ll dream about. Another entrée that will leave you in ah is the Veal Scaloppini ($19.95); several slices of delicate veal are sautéed in a light cream sauce with mushrooms and herbs to make this mouthwatering dish. Add the mixed vegetables, white and sweet mashed potatoes, topped with fresh parsley to make this another dish for the books.
And to finish the meal you must try the desserts. The French are well known for the sweetest and most delicate desserts and Les Amies has some of the best. You must try the Napoleon ($5.95); light flakey layers of puff pastry filled with a layer of fresh whipped and pastry cream, topped with powdered sugar and drizzled with fruit syrup. The Napoleon is called “Mille Feuille” in France which means “a thousand sheets” due to the layering of Pastry and cream. Simply delicious! Another hit is the Crepes Les Amies ($6.95); homemade crepes are covered in ripe bananas and brought to your table. The crepes are then covered in rum and set on fire to cook off the alcohol and warm the plate. With the accompanying ice cream and fresh whipped cream you combine your own mouthwatering treat.
Once you visit and sample from the menu you’ll make this you’re new home for French cuisine.
