Perhaps this is because the reason behind making such a choice, for most people, is based on wants and needs that have much to do with the result rather than the cause.
Confused? Let me clarify. When choosing to eat right and exercise, if it’s weight loss you’re after…you are focusing on the RE- SULT. You didn’t enter the world with a weight problem, but rather something drove you to make choices that resulted in an unhealthy lifestyle. That “something” could be any number of things, but I’m going to say that your thoughts and perceptions about yourself and life in general are what influenced your choices.
Do you see yourself as being trapped in your life? Do you believe that you are only able to afford cheap and processed foods? Do you picture yourself attached to foods and activities (or lack of) that don’t serve your best interests because they are a part of your upbringing and, therefore, your memories and traditions?
How do you see the world we live in? Take a moment and ask yourself this question. Then relax for a while and see what comes to mind.
The way we see ourselves creates our choices. The role we want to play in our own lives and the world in general influences how we take care of bodies. When we DECIDE that we are beings that deserve the foods and activities that will enhance our existence in the world, we make choices that reflect that decision. This is when we get to the CAUSE.
If you want to live a lifestyle that makes you feel empowered because you understand that physical strength and stamina keep you sharp and connected to source, when you eat foods that keep your body functioning properly because you get that this will allow you to be your most authentic self then you will not only get fit and slim but you’ll stay there. This is when it will be a lifestyle because I promise you – if you don’t get to the core of what motivates your actions, you’ll be on one of those annoying diets for the rest of your life.
And we both know you’re worth more than that!
