Build A Sub

By Arnold Leir
Make Your Own Stunning Creations From Exquisite Ingredients

Welcome to the world of the sandwich shop. It seems as if a new one opens every other week. What sets them apart? Quality and service, a rare combination that Chef/proprietor Tony Giannoccoli provides every time you visit Build A Sub, located in The Shops of University Park on North West 20 th Street in Boca Raton.

If you are not familiar with this ultramodern shopping complex, proceed directly from 20th Street into University Park. Drive past a few stores on your right until you see the Build A Sub signage on the far right. There is an abundance of spaces throughout this mall, so even during the busiest hours, you will have no problem finding a convenient parking space.

Quite simply, this sub shop sets a standard by which all others can be measured. The cold cuts are top of the line Boars Head and not drawn from some generic brand packed with fillers as well as undesirable chemicals. The sauce and the ingredients for the hot Italian subs (Meat Ball Parm, Chicken Parm, Eggplant Parm) are crafted from the finest ingredients. In addition, all the veggies piled abundantly into the sandwiches, wraps and salads have the vibrancy of produce harvested at the peak of flavor.

Creating a feast is as simple as following the steps listed on a series of large wall charts located behind the counter. Start with choosing the type of bread (sub roll, sliced bread or Kaiser roll) or wrap (white wheat or spinach). Next, select from the list of meats or salads (chicken, tuna or crab). The third option involves picking the type of cheese and, finally, deciding on the toppings (cuts of vibrant vegetables and condiments).

As an alternative, the menu contains dozens of skillfully designed options (subs, wraps and salads) that you can order as is or customize to suit your taste. The salad platters are scrumptiously enticing combinations of ingredients. The Greek Salad ($7.95) brings together a perfectly balanced array of fresh veggies and black olives topped with a heap of fragrant Feta cheese, The Eggplant Parm ($5.50/$8.25) features a harmonious pairing of exquisite home made sauce bathing delectable layers of scrumptious eggplant topped with a flow of creamy mozzarella. The Veggie Wrap ($6.50) is a captivating combo of fresh vegetable energized by pickles, sweet and hot peppers plus black olives bound together by a savory tortilla. Following the directions on the wall charts, we created our own sub ($5.99) layered with Boars Head turkey and our favorite toppings You can complement your selection with homemade soup, deli salads and an assortment of cold beverages. Build A Sub provides takeout and free delivery. Catering services are available for all occasions. For more information, log on to www. build-a-sub.net.
