It’s very rare in today’s fast food and technology - obsessed world to find a place where you are more than just a customer. One that really makes you feel at home.
I was lucky to find just such an oasis in the most unlikely of places in beautiful Delray Beach. Located in the Marketplace Delray plaza on Military Trail, just north of Atlantic Avenue, Bird’s Nest Tree is a relative “hole in the wall.” A small, quaint, and beautifully decorated oasis of Chinese culinary delight.
At the heart of this restaurant is Chef William Lam and his wife Judy. Chef Lam and his kitchen staff serve up delectable Chinese fare which is great. But it is Judy who will make you fall in love with Bird’s Nest Tree. Judy will warmly welcome you at the door and take you to your table. She makes you feel at home, and I promise you, if you come back she’ll remember you. Other patrons I saw excitedly greeted Judy like an old friend.
As welcoming as the friendly and homey atmosphere at Bird’s Nest Tree is, I was most excited about the food we had. My party tried Udon Shrimp Noodles, Orange Beef and Pompano fish for dinner. The Udon noodles were teeming with succulent shrimp, veggies and a delectable sauce you’ll be coming back for. Their Orange Beef tempts the tongue with a sweet and satisfying sauce drizzled over their delicious beef. While the fresh Pompano fish will dazzle your taste buds with a unique blend of spices.
It’s a pleasure and a treat to find restaurants like Bird’s Nest Tree. Chef William Lam and his wife Judy provide not only great food for diners, but a welcoming environment that makes you feel right at home.
