Take a cursory look at the numbers above and you will see there is a super hot phenomenon taking place throughout the world when it comes to vampires. Just consider what we’ve witnessed; the success of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Being Human on the BBC, True Blood on HBO, Angel, Dracula: The Series Syndicated, The Vampire Diaries, Moonlight and Twilight and the list goes on.
We meet the three main characters this month in the Happy Herald. Each adds to the whole and makes this a love story that is both familiar and new. On November 18, 2011 – The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 will be released. I have a sneaking suspicion that this go- round… I’ll be there too…. How about you?
Though most famous for her role as Bella Swan in the Twilight saga, Kristen Stewart, born April 9, 1990, has been a working actor since her early years in Los Angeles, California. A talent scout caught her grade school performance in a Christmas play at the age of eight, she appeared on television in a few small roles. Her first significant role came when she was cast as Sam Jennings in The Safety of Objects. Soon after that, she starred alongside Jodie Foster in the hit drama, Panic Room and was nominated for a Young Artist Award. "When I got Panic Room, I'm like,' Oh my God that's huge! It's bigger than huge'. I was kind of freaked out at first" And then, at just 18, Stewart took on the starring role in Twilight opposite Robert Pattinson who plays the vampire lead, Edward Cullen. Based on a series of the same name written by Stephenie Meyer, the novel already had a huge following and the film opened to fans anxious to see the vampire romance brought to life. Awarded the MTV Movie Award for Best Female Performance then, Stewart's turn as Bella continues . “I love acting, she says, because I love to tell stories. I like being in movies that have a great story. I'm not so interested in being a Hollywood star. It's a job, you know. When you wake up at six in the morning every day for a week, it feels like hard work.”
About Bella in New Moon: Well, she loses what basically gives her the drive to do anything in her whole life. She loses the man she's in love with, but she also loses her entire life plan, and she's so young to have to be forced into a decision like that. It's just a glorified, elaborate version of the worst breakup you've ever been through. All of a sudden you question everything. All of a sudden you know nothing and you're dropped in the middle of a freezing cold ocean. Oddly, we have a character that's warm enough and bright enough to bring her out of that, and it's truly gut-ripping. Because as perfect as Jacob is for her, she holds on to an ideal, the ultimate fiery love that she has for Edward even though it's not comfortable, it's not practical and it's not a good idea.
On how fame changed her life: There's nothing you can do about it, to be honest. I don't leave my hotel room -- literally, I don't. I don't talk to anybody about my personal life, and maybe that perpetuates it, too. But it's really important to own what you own and keep it to yourself.
Taylor Lautner has quickly become one of the most famous, talented, and successful young Hollywood actors thanks to the blockbuster success of the Twilight films. In 2008, Taylor auditioned for the iconic role of werewolf hunk Jacob Black in the record smashing, blockbuster hit Twilight. With the sudden and unexpected success of the film, Taylor found himself being propelled into a world that would forever change his life and his career. He continues to portray Jacob Black in the The Twilight Saga as well as branch out into other roles and films such as the star studded romantic comedy, Valentine's Day, and the action-packed thriller, Abduction.
Let’s roll the clock back a bit…In 2003, Taylor flourished in the martial arts circuit where he ranked number one in the world for NASKA's Black Belt Open Forms, Musical Weapons, Traditional Weapons and Traditional Forms and, at the age of twelve, he became the three time Junior World Champion.
However, in addition to his love for martial arts, Taylor obviously developed a love for acting and his martial arts instructor, who was involved in show business, encouraged him to audition for a small appearance in a Burger King commercial. He didn’t get that part, but his desire, drive and inclination inspired his family to move from Michigan to California where… as the story goes… his dreams came true.
Robert Pattinson was born on May 13, 1986, in London, England. He is an excellent musician, playing both the guitar and piano and his music will be heard in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1.
When Robert was 15, he started acting in amateur plays and in 2003 he took on the role of Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. “The day before [the Harry Potter London premiere] I was just sitting in Leicester Square, happily being ignored by everyone. Then suddenly, just the very next day, strangers are screaming my name. Amazing.” And if you are watching the ads on TV, in billboards, in the malls, on the internet, you will know that he has since been cast as Edward Cullen in Twilight. Additionally, Rob, as he is known, has completed upcoming roles as Salvador Dalí in Little Ashes and Art in How to Be.
His trademark messy hair and thick eyebrows with just a hint of jack Nicholson makes him a stand out guy who often is on the best looking lists. “I aspire to be Jack Nicholson,” Pattinson says. “I love his every single mannerism. I used to try and be him in virtually everything I did, I don't know why. I watched One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest when I was about 13, and I dressed like him. I tried to do his accent. I did everything like him. I think it kind of stuck with me.”
Everything has become more intense since 'Twilight' was released. It's hard to handle what's happening to me. I don't have the necessary hindsight, even if only to find a way out to this situation. But this celebrity thing, you can't fight it, it's useless, you can't avoid it. When it's not something you desired during your whole life, or something you don't aspire to, you're free not to care about it. But there is a caveat in Pattinson’s success…”Please don't give me all my luck now. Make it all stretch. I don't mind waiting,” he says. “Make it stretch for 70 years.” Or in Vampire years.… forever!
