G - Giving is a cornerstone of love. We simply can’t love someone without being giving of ourselves. Give hugs, kisses, generous compliments, and that loving back rub. Have you ever considered how much love you are putting into what you give? Thought provoking, isn’t it?
R - Remembering is an essential part of loving. We must remember and cherish the reasons why we fell in love. Remember to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and accomplishments. Remember to be considerate. Always remember that you are on the same team, and all relationships have challenges.
A - Acceptance is about valuing the people we love as they are. We must accept each other’s faults and recognize that we are all imperfect. Yet we are still worthy of love and acceptance. We are happiest when we can be authentic without the fear of judgement.
T - Time is something we can never get back. Spending quality time with our spouses is vital. By putting down our phones, turning off our televisions, and intentionally scheduling time for romance and fun, we allow our love for each other to expand.
I - I love you can be said in so many ways. Verbally, nonverbally, by our actions and inactions. We can write love letters and express love with words, a look in our eyes, or even a smile. We all need to hear the words and see actions that convey love and adoration.
T - Thoughtfulness is knowing what is important to our spouses. When we love someone, we want them to know that we care about them and what is going on in their life. No matter how small the gesture, thoughtfulness can be a direct path to our loved one’s heart.
U - Unwavering mutual commitment is a promise to love and cherish each other, even when life’s inevitable challenges arise. When we said, “I do,” we pledged our love forever with our words. Unwavering commitment means never giving up on each other and our marriages.
D - Devotion is a matter of the heart. It means that we are loyal, show empathy, make daily efforts to show love and affection, and genuinely admire each other. Devotion goes beyond words. It is in our actions.
E - Enthusiasm is intense eagerness, passion, interest and enjoyment. Remember those days? These were the days when we were willing to do almost anything to bring joy to our partners. These were the days when we wanted to know everything about each other. Why not pour a little enthusiasm back into your marriage? Think romance. Think adventure. Think Fun! Choose love.
May your Thanksgiving be filled with many blessings and much love!
